Just on the way home from the store tonight, pulled up to an empty light, newish (06 or newer, couldn't tell exact year but one of the new ones with the 197HP engine) Civic Si pulls up next to me. I look over to check out his ride, he looks at me and gives it one rev, I rev back, lets play! Light turns green, feathered the clutch from 2500RPM, seems to work best for me so I can actually grab and go without spinning the tires much. Had him by 1 car or so from launch up to 75MPH when we both cut it. His ride looked and sounded stock to me but can't be sure, had we gone to 100MPH I think he may have gained a bit and been up to my front tire or so but I think I still would have had him the whole way. He gave a thumbs up at the next light and turned the opposite direction from me, but a worthy kill none-the-less! :wee

Good run 8)

the civic should have ran you by 1-2 cars. They do 15.2s and 0-60 in 6.8sec prob was a manaul and guy couldnt shift

yeah sounds like you were the better driver cause that car should have had you. but good job nonetheless. better drivers can always beat out slightly faster cars.

Yea I think had he been a better driver he would have caught up and run neck and neck with me, maybe pulled ahead slightly if we ran a few runs. Bone stock those things aren't putting down anymore than 180WHP and won't run much quicker than a 15.2 in the quarter, 15.17 with a really good driver. With my mods I'd say I'm around 170WHP (on a mustang dyno, maybe 177 on a dynojet  ) and I've run a 15.198 @ 91MPH in this car with its current mods and the spare/jack removed (no passenger, 1/5th tank of gas, 93 octane). Then again the track here is only 1000ft above sea level, temps at the time of the run were in the low 60's, so a lot of factors there. I've also got the torque advantage by maybe 10ft-lbs or so, which would be enough to pull in the beginning and hold it to the end of a 1/4 mile IMO. Would definitely like to race one at the track if I had the chance, probably not going back out till it starts to cool off again, racing in 100F weather is no fun.

i doubt you're getting 170 whp with just those mods. that would be a 20 ish hp increase from stock. i know the typhoon is supporse to be 14, but im not buying it. the stock header and dp arent restrictive enough to give that much. id say your around 165 or so. he should have pulled you prob by like half a car or so, but you were def the better driver.

a civic SI stock for stock will not beat a G5 GT bad at all. if anything a car if they can drive. the G5 had alot more torque to get it out of the whole faster. the civic will ketch the g5 with the higher top end but they are about the same weight and hell the civic will most likely have a hard time geting into 3rd gear haha. if my car did 170whp the way it sits now im puting down 180-185 at the crank. a modded G5 will take a stock civic

there's a dude that did a 15.0 in a stock 08 2.4 balt so the si vs g5's and 2.4 cobalts is a drivers race.

Yeah, the newer SI's only have 130 Crank Torque.

i think the si should take our cars by a car or two. they pull at top end.

170 is easily obtainable with those mods. The CA header alone, before/after dyno is rated at 10whp. The intake and exhaust could easily net the other 10 together.

The 2.4 N/A Ion on CSS.net with a good tune is netting 186whp/178tq with nothing more listed here other than a downpipe. You can't forget the torque rating on the Si... they're complete crap off the line and won't have much of a chance making up ground with a modded GT bone stock like that. Honestly, it would even lose to a bolted GT from a roll. You have to keep in mind how well the ecotec responds to mods.

But I'm comparing modded to stock. I'd like to run a N/A modded Si after I get tuned.

that is true just with my two mods i notice a big differnce. i was going to get the zzp headers and dp but im just going to pay off my credit card and save up for the hahns turbo kit. 007g5gt if i was you i would get a tune bro that will opend your car up on top end. with me when i hit 70 my car slows down for a bit then picks up again. with a good tune its like another 10 hp gain.

Definitely plan on getting tuned. I'm going to get sportlines and and a downpipe first, should have both of those installed by the middle to end of May. Then I get to save for a tune, but it'll be a couple months before that gets done.

Honda has a recall/ repair on the '06, '07 SI. Apparently the Syncros have problems in the 1-2 and sometimes 2-3 and it's universal in all the cars. My bud has an '06 all performance modded and he just sent his in to get fixed. Good kill though nonetheless, they are pretty good to run against. Nice launch technique as well, Kudos!

I'd like to run a new Civic Si as well.....I heard they can touch the high 14's bone stock, so it should be a good race.

I'm suppose to run one haha, I'm not expecting to win, just to have a good time.
