I have a 2009 Pontiac G5 with automatic transmission.
I'd like to know where the FOB receiver is so I can replace it or remove/disable it.
When I bring either of my FOB's near my car the door locks keep opening and closing by themselves at random intervals, and sometimes the shifter got stuck in Park. I left the FOB's in my house with the batteries removed, and only used the keys to open the car doors, and had no problems so far. The FOB's have good batteries, 3.3v, so the problem is probably the FOB receiver.
I tried finding the location with google, but I couldn't find it for the 2009 Pontiac G5.
Where is the FOB receiver located, is it ok to unplug or remove it permanently, and only use the car keys?
Do I have to unplug it or is there a fuse or switch to disable it?
I tried both FOB's individually and both make the door locks constantly lock and unlock, every few seconds, when either FOB is near the car. The FOB's are still at home with batteries removed. I've been using only the keys for a week and it seemed to work. But yesterday the shifter once again got stuck in Park. I tried re-starting the car a few times, pressing and releasing the brakes and hand brakes, and after about 5 minutes a dash light with "yellow triangle with car swerving" appeared, a "Traction" problem was displayed, and I was able to move the shifter to Drive. Every time I click the shifter button, I hear a click under the steering wheel and under the shifter. Today I started the car and was cleaning the snow, and I heard and saw the door lock and unlock a few times.
Newer cars have an emergency shifter unlock switch near the shifter, but on my 2009 G5, I would have to remove the shifter cover to get to that switch.
It may be the BCM, since the same problem happens without the FOBs!?!?!?
While driving, every time I press the brakes at a stop I hear a click in the door locks, It also happens when I release the brakes, or press the button on the shifter. The yellow engine problem light on the dash is often there, and the problem seems to be getting worse, the shifter gets stuck in park more often, but then is ok after a few minutes. I guess I'll have to take it to the garage.
Yes, the Check Engine Light appears and disappears randomly, sometimes the triangle traction icon appears and disappears randomly. The shifter sometimes gets stuck in Park after I start the car, but usually only for less than 5 minutes.
If it is the BCM, how much would it cost to repair or replace it?
