New Member Trying to keep G5’s on the Map

I’m a new member, but I’ve had my 2009 G5 for 3 years. 147k miles great reliable car, but I can’t find a good tuner or anyone to remove the speed limiter. I was told Trifecta and had no luck. I want to hear your guys top speed? I have been 124 coasting down a long stretch of highway, but my limiter still kicks in at 110 and doesn’t rev past 4K but slowly coasts to the 120s. The biggest question I’ve seen on all 2.2s is how to remove limiter and I’ve still had no luck? Help

My car has:
ZZP CAI
ZZP shorty headers
Spectre Air Filter
W- rated Continental Extreme Contact All Season DW06 tires 205/55/ZR16
ZZP tower strut bar
Trifecta tune
Car best- 0-60: 6.8 1/4 14.00 top speed: 124

Welcome to the Club !

they are the 2.2L tuning people and sure would have thought it would have been removed or raised with a canned tune !
There were only a couple tuning options I saw on forum, and no one in the CT area can seem to help me. I’m trying to find any shop in New England or east coast that I could just pull up get tuned and pay. I should of went with hptuners, but instead I went Trifecta and choose wrong with the limited options. And I don’t think the abs or bcm module is why my car still hits limiter and coasts by it very slowly. Also I don’t know if my tires being worn, if that even affects 0-60 that much, but I would run consistent high 6s low 7s 0-60s, and now I run high 8s low 9s which is very slow. I don’t know even if it’s the new tune update I flashed or what. But my car isn’t running as quick as it used to, I think maybe tune. And I spent a lot of money on whole set up for a car that can easily go past 110 but hits limiter after pulling hard and can only coast past 110, ruining the experience and I have no clue what car would feel like if it revved past 4K rpms at 110 all they way to redline or at least in my car I seen some of my shifts happen at 6800 rpms, so my car pulling another 2000 plus rpms I wanna know what that top speed would be. But my response from tuner wasn’t helpful and I wasn’t trying to argue. And of course I can’t find any hand held tuning program devices. Spent 300 for a tune and what I want most was limiter removed and it’s not can only coast by it sometimes.

Nice pic and welcome!
I figured Trifecta wouldn't provide support. Look into this:

HPTuners is the way to go.
Nice pic and welcome!
Thank you and nice color!

Thanks, wish I choose hptuners first or there were more options like those hand held programmers were you don’t need a computer.
I didn't think HPT did the 2.2L ecotech only the 2.4L ?

'05/Early '06 you can't tune with HPT. Those were Trifecta's role before they stopped support.
Would I be able to use a 2009 Pontiac G5 GT ecu in my car?
I don’t know anything about that kind of stuff, but I just wanted to say you have a nice looking car!

I don't think that is possible.

Yeah I didn’t really know, but the 2009 GT is the same engine and everything just different suspension, brakes, wheels and tires. But the ecu has the top speed set higher but not by much.

As far as I know, the ECU's have the VIN and mileage programmed into them, somehow. The car also has another computer somewhere in it and it also has the VIN stored, as well as records the mileage. If the two don't match, the car wont do anything. In order to get this to work, you need to find somewhere with the software to open the coding and manually change the ECU to match the car.

It does and it can hehehe Stock Speed limit is set to 112mph for fuel cutoff. Open up your base map and look for the last tab "SPEDO", the limit is set there.

There is no way your car is running 14's, I can't believe you just said that. Trying the same car with the 5-speed manual with every bolt on you going to imagine with the zzp canned tune, and it was a total waste of money. Shit you wouldn't run 14s if you put the Eaton m62 supercharger with the zzp stage 1 kit with full bolt ons.

Come on bro you ain't even getting close to 14s, I can't even believe you just said that. I got the same car with the five-speed manual and every bolt on you going to imagine with the and zzp Canned tune. And it was nothing but a waste of money, that car is running 17s if you're lucky I mean it's basically still stock. You wouldn't hit 14s with the Eaton M62 supercharger with full bolt ons and the zzp stage 1 kit for the supercharger. Your best bet is to put a nice suspension on it, like one I got BC extreme low coilovers. Because sometimes it's funner to drive a slow car fast than a fast car fast. You would have to put in an insane amount of money into that car for it to hit 14s.

Trust me you'll thank me if you put coilovers on it, and you want to go with BC extreme low coilovers because these cars have such a giant wheel Gap. The car will handle like a dream but it'll never be fast unless you put thousands of dollars into it.
but it'll never be fast unless you put thousands of dollars into it.
Depends on ur definition of 'Fast'. These cars put sub 7 second 0-60s stock, that pretty quick. And while thousands of dollars help, you dont need to dump anywhere near what you'd dump into any other car, especially considering most of the old school 'cheap tuners' have had their prices shoot up cuz of clout culture and LS anything goes up in price every second.

While I dont necessarily believe OP is running 14 flat with his mods if his best 0-60 is 6.8,

LSJ Stock is less power than just the ZZP Stage 1 Supercharger Kit.

And this is OPs car Stock.
And considering how rich the stock tune is, uhm, yea, I can see OP getting into 14s.

I guess buying a halfway decent LSJ and tuning for a few thousand is an insane amount of money
