There are some oil filter cartridges out there that cannot tolerate the apparent high flow that are engines put out. Some of them will crush under the oil pressure, and possibly starve the engine. Only high-end filters are good to use. They may cost a few dollars more, but are definitely worth it!

Good to know, I'm doing mine on Saturday. Is there any kind of Filter & Synthetic thats particularly good to use?
I like Penzoil, long time user. Just about any synth is good. Look for a comparison test, pick your own. As for filters. Spend a few extra bucks on the high end, high mileage ones. Fram is all bad, but I'm trying their latest 'best' design.

I've been using Wix XP and Mobil oil for years. After seeing how the internals look with regular oil changes, using Mobil, I'll never switch to anything else. As far as the filters go, the overall height makes a difference too. Once you tighten the cover, sometimes the filter crushes. I havent had this issue with Wix XP
