I have an issue and need some insight on how to fix my problem, it has to do with my steering wheel controls and horn. I changed my oil not to long ago; when i was do i went to reset my oil life from the steering wheel, however when i pressed the button nothing happened...as in NOTHING!!! now my display say change oil soon. i can't access or see my mileage or temp because its being over ridden with "change oil soon". volume buttons, mute, cruise and advance station buttons all work. Next... the horn doesn't work when i lay on it, however heres the kicker!! when i use my fob to lock the car the horn works. I'm totally beside myself which this one. is it possible that this could be a fuse related problem or is it deeper than that.

There is probably something else causing the buttons/horn to not work, but in the meantime you can reset the "change oil soon" message by turning the key to the "on" position (don't start the engine) and push the gas pedal to the floor three times.

Thanks Toolman, just did as you suggested and voila "Change Oil Soon" message is cleared. Now to figure out the horn and DIC issue, are you aware of a fuse that would operate the controls on the steering wheel or horn, it just seems odd to me the the problem is isolated to the one button on the steering wheel...all others work fine!! I'm really scratching my head on this one.

I'm not aware of a fuse. If it were my car, I would just change out the buttons with a new set.

Thanks again, I think I will just replace the buttons. This morning I noticed that none of my steering wheel buttons were laminated any more, time to break out the volt meter. Thanks for you help Toolman, cheers

You can search both fuse blocks and see if they have a fuse. I know a horn has it's own fuse not sure about the controls.

There is a small wiring harness inside the steering wheel that operates both the buttons and the horn. If it's not a fuse.. I would assume it would have something to do with that harness.

Fuse #19 on the passenger side of the center console, (just below the glove box
